1914 ARCHDUKE ASSASSINATION TOUR

Franz Ferdinand Sarajevo assassination is one of the most remarkable episodes in the city’s and the world’s history.

Join us on a tour during which we will unveil the reasons for the beginning of WWI, the political climate in Europe, and the world before the tragic event that took place on 28th June 1914, which shook the masses and changed the course of the world’s history.

Learn more about the Austro-Hungarian influence in Bosnia and Herzegovina and find out what happened with the conspirators, the members of Young Bosnia, who plotted against Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

1. Sarajevo Meeting of Cultures – See the spot where East and West meet.
2. Hotel Europe – Located exactly where East and West meet in Sarajevo, at the entrance to Baščaršija. Built in 1882, the Europe Hotel is the oldest hotel in Sarajevo and was designed by Karl Paržik, a famous architect at the time.
3. Cathedral of Sacred Jesus Hearth – Send a message of peace and tolerance in front of Sarajevo’s Notre Dame.
4. The Academy of Fine Arts – The Academy of Fine Arts, originally built to serve as an Evangelical Church, is considered one of Sarajevo’s loveliest buildings.
5. Bridge Festina Lente – An inscription at both entrances to the bridge reads “Festina Lente,” which is Latin for “hurry slowly”!
6. Central Post Office – BH Pošta is one of three companies responsible for postal service in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
7. Sarajevo National Theater – This large and beautiful building on Obala Kulina Bana is not only home to the theater but is also on the list of Protected National Monuments of BiH. It was built during the Austro-Hungarian period according to designs by architect Karl Paržik, originally serving as a social facility that officially opened on January 2, 1899.

We will end our tour at this stop and take a closer look at the exhibition at the Franz Ferdinand Museum Sarajevo.
